Dr Hepner has over 15 years experience in Clinical Neuropsychology and research in the behavioural and neurosciences. She holds endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology with the Psychology Board of Australia and she has run her own private practice for the past 10 years.
Dr Hepner has expertise in the neuropsychological assessment of clients 16 years and older across a range of neurological, medical and psychiatric conditions (e.g., neurodegenerative disease/dementia, traumatic brain injury, stroke, epilepsy, brain tumour, ADHD, depression, schizophrenia, substance abuse). Her interests include decision making capacity, acquired brain injury, neurodegenerative disease/dementia and cognitive rehabilitation.
In the medicolegal arena, Dr Hepner routinely acts as an expert witness in civil and criminal matters. She has extensive experience in the provision of written and oral evidence in the Supreme, District and Local Courts. Dr Hepner has also provided neuropsychological opinion for insurance providers, the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Service, the Department of Human Services and the NSW Nurses and Midwives Tribunal. In 2015, Dr Hepner completed postgraduate legal studies at the University of Sydney in areas of Health Law, Criminology and Expert Evidence.
In addition to her private practice, Dr Hepner currently holds a Clinical Neuropsychology position at the Prince of Wales Hospital, where she is based at the Neuropsychiatric Institute and consults to the broader hospital. She previously worked at Westmead Hospital and the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit, Liverpool Hospital. She is also a guest lecturer in Neuropsychology at the University of Western Sydney.
